Cow/calf pair up for discussion - we really like this pair and had cross bred for a purpose. However, we think it’s best to reduce our herd this year after getting all heifer calves.

Mom is a two year old first time heifer. She carried great and caved independently. She is half Hereford and half Belfaire (an excellent duel purpose mix). Our Belfaire is the best mom, milker, and beef maker.

Baby is a two months old heifer and full of sass! She is half Brown Swiss. Like I had said, we bread her intentionally. We wanted a replacement milk heifer that had the stature for breeding beef calves and North Idaho weather.

No grandsires or dams have been tested, but there is a high likelihood of them producing A2A2 milk. They feed out great on grass too. Neither have been halter trained. Mom was pretty much hand raised though because her mom was milked everyday. Mom has a high likelihood of being bred back, as she is with the bull.

Whether you’re looking for a family cow or to grow your beef operation, this pair could be just what you are looking for. If they are for a youth project, mom is small in stature still.

We’ve got some pretty cool dogs here at Hanner Homestead.

They also know to come running when they hear us sharpening knives. That’s because we are always happy to give these hardworking guys some nutritious raw treats.
