Seven years later, and I can still hear your voice...
Storm McInerny I've wrote this over and over again in my head, counting down the days til we received that middle of the night phone call, two years ago today, replaying the talks we had, the time we spent together, the plans we made for after your retirement, I knew you were gone before they told us, I dreaded the look on the faces of the ones closest to you as they got the news, time stopped and sped up all at once, so much has happened yet it feels like it was yesterday, I still talk to you, I still hear your voice reply, I forget sometimes, then it hits me like a ton of bricks, I know others do too, I can see it in their eyes as they share the never ending stories of your heroism and shenanigans as if it happened yesterday, it doesn't get easier, the challenges of only having you in spirit just changes, in your physical absent our family has grown, not just in blood but in love from our community, your firefighter brothers have become ours, they have cared for our entire family, your family in ways we would have never imagined, you have done the same and wouldn't have expected less but you would want ever single one of them to know how much it's appreciated so, thank you to the Fallbrook Firefighters , the community at large, far too many to tag, we are eternally grateful.
