Bloomin’ Goat Apothecary is partnering with ThisThatThenNow in selling their first batches of soap! The farm sourced goats milk and a variety of herbs which went into making these handmade, hand cut, small batch soaps.

Currently in stock is (from right to left): Oatmeal Goats Milk, Lemon Balm, Chamomile Lavender Goats Milk, and Tarragon Goats Milk. Check out the link below to make your order while they’re still in stock or, if you’re in the Boone, NC area, message me to make your order!

Introducing: Bloomin’ Goat Apothecary! 🎉🎉

Looking for locally sourced gifts for Christmas? Check out the new branch of the farm. We aim for every product sold to contain ingredients made on the farm. Right now we’re hard at work utilizing all the herbs we dried this year and turning them into products for our customers to enjoy and find new everyday staples.

(Pictured: dill, oregano, lemon balm soap, and oatmeal goat soap)

With fall coming to the mountains with a vengeance, we’ve been busy clearing beds and prepping to winter them. However, with winter coming, the farm has no plans of slowing down. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come next for Bloomin’ Goat Farm! Any guesses?

August was a crazy busy month at the farm and our focus was mainly on our livestock as many of them had babies (pictures coming soon). Our squash is currently coming in in droves. We have crook neck and golden summer squash right now. This was my first time growing summer squash and I’ve been amazing at how LARGE they can get. Pictured is one of the guys I harvested after a weekend vacation and a week full of tropical storm rain!

Jalapeños are here! It was one of those “I won’t get a basket because there can’t be that many” moments (if you’ve ever gardened you’ve been there). Our first harvesting was successful and we have so many more jalapeño babies on the plants.

If you’re local and interested in some produce and herbs message us!

This is the very real life of a farmer. Many farmers don’t farm full time. Many of them have to work a full time job to be able to farm. It can be very difficult to find the niche and balance that will make a small farm profitable and able to support itself. This is the life of an American farmer. With Bloomin’ Goat Farm just starting up, everyone who works on the farm has a full time job elsewhere. So this is how I ended up filling an order in the dark with a headlamp, clippers, and mesh bag. We all leave our 40 hour work week to come to the farm to put in more work because this is what we all love. We put in the work now because we believe in what the farm can become and will with our hard work. The next time you see a small farmer, thank them for their hard work.

My goal with my social media for the farm is to be 100% honest. My goal is not to glamorize farming or agriculture. My goal is to be honest and to teach when I can. And sometimes that is glamorous and sometimes it’s disappointing. I don’t enjoy fessing up to my failures especially when it’s something that I have multiple degrees in and I love with every part of my being. However, I don’t want other people to feel like they’re failing because other people are only advertising their successes. I recognize that although my goal is transparency, I have not followed through with that on any of the farm’s social media platforms.

So I’ll be honest, this year‘s been trying. There’s been a dozen bumps in the road at least and 20 other things that haven’t gone the way I wanted. But that’s life. And I’m thankful I haven’t done this on my own. I am beyond grateful for all the support and help that I have received and that has been offered to me. Like most things starting out, it’s been slow and it wasn’t how I imagined. But I’ve also learned a valuable lesson that just because something isn’t going exactly as you planned doesn’t mean that it’s a complete failure.

For whoever needs to hear this today: don’t give up on something that has found its own way to succeed just because it wasn’t the way you thought it would succeed.

The flowers are really beginning to flourish on the farm. We should don’t have a lot of flowers planted but have big plans for them next year!

We’ve been very busy for the past week on the farm. We’ve been building more raised beds and planting as fast as we can.
