🌲 Native to the Blue Ridge Mountains
The Fraser Fir is a true Appalachian native, found naturally only in the cool, misty heights of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains — mainly in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Southwest Virginia. It grows best at elevations above 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where the air is cool and the soil is rich and moist.

This rare, high-elevation habitat gives the Fraser Fir its unique characteristics — soft, fragrant needles, strong branches, and that classic Christmas tree shape. Because of its limited natural range, it’s considered an endemic species, meaning it doesn’t naturally grow anywhere else in the world.

Some of the most famous wild populations grow on Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, and Clingmans Dome — the highest peaks in the Eastern United States. The same mountain conditions that challenge hikers and wildlife are exactly what make the Fraser Fir thrive!
