It has certainly been a rough go so far this year, but with so many healthy babies on the ground, it is hard to stay down for long! Currently we have had our Nubian group kidding almost daily, next will be the Boer.

Babies from each breed are registerable from 50%-100%, Nubian doelings will be disbudded.

FULL NUBIAN IN MILK

Great girl, has been milked before, but bless her heart her kids did not make it and I don't have any I can pull and put under her.

She kidded yesterday, ready to be milked out ASAP, I simply do not have the time.

The weather has been especially harsh this year. We had a full barn collapse with the storm- fortunately the chicken flock survived, but we did lose a wonderful, heavy bred, Nubian nanny. Our Mellie was a devastating loss, and a reminder that even with the best preparation, tragedy can strike.

The entire barn will have to come down, a very unwelcome task (and expense!), but we are doing our best to stay positive. Our family had future plans of smaller structures and expanded pasture space; Mother Nature just decided our plans shouldn't be in the future for too much longer!
For now, we focus on rebuilding the pens, and restarting prep for the rest of kidding season. The goats certainly haven't lost their zest for life- and treats- so we soldier on for them

Cuter pictures to come! But the first babies of the year are 2 beautiful bucklings (full Nubian) our of our freshener, FlashBang. A great first time mom, these boys are having a grand time meeting the herd.

We are so sorry to announce that we will not be selling milk through the winter this year, but we will be back at it in March after kidding! If you have already put in a cheese order, that will be fulfilled before we start our winter break.

We sold out the same day as restock last week, so I put in extra this week- half gallons and quarts restocked at Our Place Cafe, cheese will be tomorrow :)

Thank you to Wendy Garrett Lear for helping our broody girl with her adoption!

We didn't want her to have to sit for another 3 weeks, and I definitely wanted to give her a shot at motherhood, so thankfully we were able to find her some babies
