Join us Sunday, September 13, as we celebrate the volunteers who make Loaves & Fishes possible.

Church service begins at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Boonton. Our volunteer luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in Reichert Hall.

We look forward to gathering with the people whose time, kindness, and steady commitment help our pantry serve the community.

This Labor Day, we recognize the workers whose efforts keep our communities moving.

We are especially grateful for the people who grow, produce, transport, stock, prepare, and distribute the food that reaches our tables and pantry shelves.

To everyone working behind the scenes to support our neighbors, thank you. We hope our community has a safe and peaceful Labor Day.

🎆 Sunday Funday: Looking for some free family fun?

Head to the Boonton Fire Department’s Labor Day Weekend Carnival tonight for its fireworks finale!

🎡 Carnival grounds open: 3:00–11:00 p.m.
🎆 Fireworks: Approximately 10:00 p.m.
📍 Boonton High School Field, 306 Lathrop Avenue
🎟️ Admission to the grounds and the fireworks are free. Rides, games, and food are additional.

It’s a fun way to close out the summer while supporting Boonton’s all-volunteer fire department. Bring the family and enjoy one of our community’s favorite traditions!

❤️ Today is the International Day of Charity.

Charity is not limited to writing a check. It can mean donating groceries, volunteering for two hours, sharing information with someone who needs help, or simply adding one extra item to your shopping cart for a neighbor.

Loaves & Fishes is open this morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. If you need food assistance, please visit us. If you can help, we currently need baby wipes, condiments, and plastic sandwich bags.

Fun Fact Friday!

If you are looking forward to a three-day Labor Day weekend, you should know the name Frances Perkins.

In 1933, Perkins became the first woman to serve in a presidential Cabinet when Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed her Secretary of Labor. She helped drive some of the most important worker protections in American history, including the federal minimum wage, the 40-hour workweek, restrictions on child labor, unemployment insurance, and Social Security.

Many of the workplace standards Americans now take for granted were once ideas she fought hard to make law.

This Labor Day weekend, we remember Frances Perkins and the workers, organizers, and reformers who helped create a fairer workplace.

The start of a new school year brings a long list of everyday needs. Packed lunches, after-school snacks, busy mornings, and changing routines all require supplies that families must fit into already-stretched budgets.

Plastic sandwich bags may seem like a small item, but families use them for lunches, snacks, leftovers, and organizing school supplies. Loaves & Fishes is currently collecting sandwich bags, baby wipes, and condiments to help local families manage these daily needs.

Please consider adding one of these items to your next donation. Small necessities can make a big difference during a busy school week.

As students return to the classroom, some are carrying more than backpacks and school supplies. They may also be carrying the stress of not knowing whether there will be enough food at home.

Food insecurity can make it harder for children to concentrate, learn, and fully participate in school. It also places tremendous pressure on parents who are working to stretch limited resources across groceries, housing, utilities, transportation, and other necessities.

Services like Loaves & Fishes provide families with consistent access to food, practical household items, and the reassurance that their community is here to help.

Supporting a family’s basic needs helps give every child a stronger start in school.
