Weekday recipe, insanely good with the 2023 Evan’s Amber Wine of Sauvignon Blanc. Made in an orange wine-style, the light tannin in the wine cut richness and provides those white-wine flavors you need for the dish.

Roast Chicken Thighs with Lemon, Olives and Garlic

In the morning or a few hours in advance, fill a baking dish with chicken thighs (we like skin-on,
bone-in), and coat with minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and diced green olives (we used a spicy mixture with jalapeño). Let marinate, then roast at 350 for 35-40 minutes, or until done to your liking. Enjoy over polenta with Parmesan or butter noodles. If you like spice, you can add red pepper flakes as well. Amber wine is incredible with difficult pairings like this!

Happy Pinot Noir Day! Mt Eden versus Pommard clones of Pinot Noir! We are in thick of harvest and have picked our first tiny box of Mount Eden clone of Pinot Noir, our most recent planting on the estate. The difference in the cluster shape is notable — we can’t wait to see what the wine tastes like!

In other harvest news, our Pinot Noir looks fantastic. Decent crop, good condition, no smoke and minor sunburn that we cut off the vine before it arrived on the crush pad. The Sauvignon Blanc is picking extremely light; it was affected by inclement weather during fruit set. Quality still looks high, however, and we are feeling very good about Vintage 2026.
