A new dam development!?

Full Cellar is located near the headwaters of Johnson Creek, and while we were aware of the thriving wetlands they’re supporting (above video) just upstream from us…

We are surprised to see a new beaver build, right under our bridge!
Friends at EMSWCD are keeping an eye on it with us, and if the dam proves toooo effective and causes excessive flooding, they’ll help us problem-solve!

…like maybe put an enormous leek in the dam… ?? 🤷🏻

Superstar Farm Spotlight: Gentle Rain Farm

Our friend Sue Gentle Rain Farm grows stunning crops for market, and we’re so grateful she’s a Food Hub contributor!! Sue is not only a devoted, joyful and thoughtful farmer, she’s also an incredible friend and co-conspirator out here on the land. Sue intersperses strategic flower plantings throughout her rows of produce and has habitat-rich hedgerows. All her land-tending and ecosystem wisdom contributes to the deliciousness of every harvest! We love Sue and Gentle Rain Farm!

Potato Dig Day was an awesome community success!!! We harvested a literal ton—2,000lbs— of Purple Viking, Nicola and Russet potatoes.

We love the potato digging implement on the tractor (we only threw one bolt 😅 but hey, we needed a problem to solve). After the tractor lifted the potatoes and shook them onto the soil’s surface, it was an easy sort & haul for all ages.

Thanks to all our CSA members and community friends who came out to harvest and taste-test our potatoes at their freshest! YUM!

The remaining 1996lbs of potatoes are bagged up and ready for CSA season. Cheers to a full root cellar! 🥔

We’ve got truckloads of variety— and we’re delivering to a pick-up site near you! 💛 It’s kinda like getting an entirely local marketplace at your doorstep.

This year, Full Cellar shares are:

🥕Customizable: Choose your combo of veggies each week! Meat, Egg, Fruit & mushroom add-ons now available!

🥕 Convenient: we’ve got 5 portland neighborhood pick-up sites, and we’re considering adding a 6th in Sellwood. Comment if you’d be into a Sellwood drop site!

🥕 Consistent: we feed you all year, from Sept 2 - June 30. Weekly Sept-November, twice monthly Dec-March, and weekly again April-June.

🥕Community-driven! We’re a small, women-owned and operated farm, and we LOVE what we do and who we serve. Join us!
