Triple Creek Acres

Triple Creek Acres This is our family farm and it's been in the family since 1912!

We used to milk cows until January 2000 when dad sold the cows and have been raising beef cattle(Polled Herefords) since then but we do mainly cash crop. Its 400 acres total with 100 being tillable and the other 300 some of the best deer hunting a guy could ask for.

We cut down about 8 acres of hay on Friday night with intentions of baling it on Monday night after work because it was suppose to rain on Saturday evening. Well it didn't rain on Saturday, so today we tedded it out and every intention of baling it tomorrow night, but at 4:30 we checked tomorrow's weather and they put clouds and chances of rain in the early evening, so we decided to just bale it tonight. 32 bales off of the 8 acres

Today we vaccinated the cattle and turned them out to pasture for the summer now. We still have 1 cow that hasn't had her calf yet, she stayed in the winter pasture with the 3 yearling calves from last year, so we can keep an eye on her when/if she has a calf.
We are so greatful that we built this makeshift holding area and alleyway into the headgate. It makes the job wayyyyy faster and easier. It took about 90 minutes to run all the cattle(including the calves) through the chute. That includes rounding all the cows and calves back up again and chasing them back out to pasture, then chasing the other yearlings and the cow in too. This job used to take us several hours in the past and it was very stressful on the cattle.

Also, a big thank you to Laurence Harris again for coming out Sunday and Monday to help us give our fences a checkup and then today helping wrangle cattle.
