This Christmas, I'm celebrating 17 months on my sobriety journey. π₯³πππ
The holiday season can be super stressful and challenging for anyone. Emotions can run high, and dealing with family dynamics adds complexity. It's a period that can test our resolve in general, but if youβre like me and the holidays were a good reason to drink at breakfast and you donβt want to do that anymore, having to deal with the holiday flood of emotions can make it a little extra rough.
Self-care during this time is more important than ever. And that means doing whatever works for you, whether that's seeking quiet moments, reaching out for support, setting necessary boundaries, or telling people to f**k off.
It's all part of maintaining your well-being and sobriety. It is OKAY to put yourself first.
Here are some resources for anyone needing an extra layer of support:
πSAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) for confidential help.
π»Find Recovery Dharma meetings around the world here https://recoverydharma.org/find-a-meeting/
π»24 hour Online AA Meetings at 319 AA Group.
https://319aagroup.org/
π»Smart Recovery Resources https://smartrecovery.org/
π988 National Hotline for immediate mental health and crisis support.
Personally, I told everyone I was sick so I could stay home alone. Let me know if anybody wants to do a virtual Beyonce dance party later. Imma nap first though.
As we navigate this season, let's continue to support and uplift each other. πFeel free to share additional resources and thoughts below.
Wishing everyone a supportive and peaceful holiday season. ππ
