As anticipated from our Fall/Winter Collection Pt. I email and post, our annual allocation from Piero Busso has landed and rested.

We’re a little late in getting this out, as some wines have come and gone. However, ok stock remains of some core wines.

This import includes the 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo and the entire range of 2022 Barbaresco bottlings, along with 2024 Langhe Chardonnay — a pure and ambitious expression of Chardonnay that could come from nowhere else but Langhe.

We were also fortunate (they are now sold out) to have received a case each of the rare V.V. (old-vine) Gallina and Albesani Vigna Borgese bottlings from the 2019 vintage, which is the current release.

If you are a MA based client, details were emailed directly to you. That information is also available on our web site at the path below, and via the link in our bio.

Piero Busso is also available in RI. If you are from a restaurant or wine shop in RI, please inquire with

If you are a wine lover interested in finding these wines, DM us or send an email to [email protected].

As anticipated from our Fall Collection Pt. I email and post, our annual allocation from Chiara Condello has now landed, including 2021 Le Lucciole and 2021 Lo Stralisco! This is basically our favorite annual import and represents so much of what we value in the fine wine world.

This import also marks the start of 2023 Predappio - a vintage style full of clarity and tension that we love.

If you are a MA based client, details were emailed directly to you. That information is also available on our web site at the path below, and via the link in our bio.

Nicolò Grippaldi is back in Boston this week and we’re hanging out at Bubble Bath Back Bay on Thursday night with all of his current releases open.

Nicolò Grippaldi is a vigneron who is singlehandedly reviving Enna’s (yes, Enna) winemaking tradition and is emerging as one of Sicily’s most important names.

After phylloxera devastated this once-thriving zone for Nerello Mascalese and Nero d’Avola, replanting never came; focus shifted to other crops. While studying philosophy in Florence, he found his way to wine and biodynamics. Inspired, he returned home and, in 2015, replanted 2.63 hectares on his great-grandfather’s land. Remarkably, four two-hundred-year-old vines still stand at the cellar entrance. Grafts from these ancient local clones of Nerello Mascalese and Nero d’Avola form one block; another comes from a massale selection of library clones.

Guided by one of the early pioneers of modern European biodynamics, Nicolò follows a strict approach: biodynamic preparations 500 and 501 in the vineyard; very low sulfite use in the cellar (about 25 mg/L total, ~5 mg/L free); spontaneous fermentations; 60-day macerations in unlined concrete; and very low volatiles—something he’s particularly proud of. He never uses oak and all sulfur utilized is naturally mined. Élevage is in unlined concrete, depending on the wine, and bottle conditioning is central to his philosophy: bottles rest at least four years before release.

His first release came in 2018, when the vines were only three years old, yet the wines carry the texture, concentration, and poise of far older vineyards. Nicolò self-distributes in Italy and sells almost exclusively to about twenty top restaurants—mostly 2- and 3-star—among them the legendary Osteria Francescana in Modena

Writing on Alexander Mackh and Grassl Glass was just posted to our web site. Link in bio and at the path below.

This writing focuses on something different than wine, but just as relevant to changing market preferences and standards: Grassl Glass.

The question of glassware might seem adjacent to the work we do with wine, but it’s not. The glass is the final intermediary between the vigneron’s work and the person experiencing it. A glass that properly reveals and elevates the experience with wine respects everything that came before—the farming, the cellar work, the decisions made in service of terroir.

Alexander Mackh, founder of Grassl Glass, has gone very far down the rabbit hole and has created various collections of mouth-blown glasses—the Vigneron Series, Elemental Series, and Amelie—that represent a paradigm shift for hospitality, not only in terms of performance and feel, but for the unique and complete philosophy behind the glassware.

Timing for this piece feels appropriate given the season and the fact that Alexander and his wife and partner Mariia just spent time with us in New York City and Boston. In the coming weeks, I’ll follow up with another piece on how retailers and restaurateurs can successfully introduce mouth-blown glasses to their programs—including how to streamline service and protect the glasses for a long life.

For those in the industry (MA, RI or NY) or end consumers interested in Grassl Glass - please DM us or reach out at [email protected].

Our 2025 allocation of Luca Faccenda’s Valfaccenda 2022 Loreto Riserva Arneis just landed, as previously outlined in our “Vine Farmer Core Curriculum: Fall Collection (Pt. 1)” Instagram post. We received fewer than 200 bottles of one of the few examples of Roero Arneis that breaks the category as the market knows it.

If you are a MA based client, the content of that post and this specific post was emailed directly to you and is also available on our web site at the path below and the link in our bio.

Valfaccenda is available in RI and CT. If you are from a restaurant or wine shop in RI, please inquire with

Cà di Press
Monforte d’Alba, Sub-zone Perno
2021 Barolo Perno

The Barolo Perno from Cà di Press has become an appellation—defining wine in just a few years, since the Pressenda family began bottling from their 7.5 hectares in Perno. Moreover, the 2021 is perhaps their defining wine to date—embodying the intensity, grace, balance, and expressive classicism of the finest 2021s.

Most importantly, the feel of Perno comes through loud and clear. For us, Perno at its best is a heady, singular expression of Barolo—sensual and pliant, with an intoxicating weave of spice, menthol, and fruit aromas.

Alice, Cristina, and their parents bring the clarity of Perno through a general philosophy of classicism with a nod to new-wave sensibilities through the pursuit of gentle extraction and low oxidation in winemaking.

The production is about 3,000 bottles. Fermentation takes place with native yeast and 25–30 days of maceration, followed by aging in 25–30 hL Slavonian oak casks. Wooden tino have recently been introduced in the cellar and will be utilized for Barolo fermentation.

New this Fall - the second of two campaigns to outline our core Fall offerings this year. Per the Pt. I campaign post directly before this one:

“It’s not everything we import this time of year, but parts I and II represent some of our most important and helpful wines.

For our MA wholesale clients who missed this campaign sent via email earlier this week - a link is in our bio and on our web site, below. It also includes surveys to express interest in specific allocations.

Because many of these wines are allocated—or won’t return until the next vintage—early signals help us plan allocations and move quickly when wine lands. When wines arrive, we’ll still reach out to anyone who we think the wines could help, as always. This option serves to give us clearer visibility and gives you extra assurance: if Fall gets hectic and you lose track of these wines, your interest is already noted and won’t be forgotten.

If you are an end consumer and are interested in finding these wines, DM us or send an email to [email protected].

Some of these wines are available in RI and CT. If you are from a restaurant or wine shop in RI, please inquire with
