Mucci Imports LLC

Mucci Imports LLC Importing/distributing boutique wines to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We specialize in hard to find, indigenous varietals that represent the true landscape of Italian wine. Mucci Imports is a young start up whose focus is on the promotion of indigenous Italian varietals from up and down the “boot.” We focus on small, family owned wineries who are dedicated to cultivating grape varietals that have existed since Greek or Roman times. These wineries don’t have vineyard

s full of international varietals but local grapes unique to their region. We commend these wineries for such choices and are proud to help educate the American consumer by telling the story of these wines and the regions from which they hail.

The world of wine lost a true legend today, Giampaolo Gravina who was kind enough to come all the way here to MA to be a part of our Grand Tasting last year. We took in a Celtics game together ahead of the events as he loved the NBA (and the Celtics). He was a huge fan and we chatted through the run to banner 18 last year.
Giampaolo was an incredible wealth of knowledge, he was the most cerebral taster I have ever met. He had no ego for a man of his stature in the wine world and was so interested in building relationships with producers not to build up his ego but to truly get to know them. He humanized wine, it wasn’t about scores, it was culture, poetry in motion really. And he could express that to you the instant he got his nose to a glass. My time with him was short compared to so many but I learned so much from him. But most of all I learned from the way that he carried himself. He was true to himself, as real as it gets. I feel so lucky to have known this incredible person. RIP my frown and I will make sure the Celtics get banner 19 for you!

Falanghina: Exploring Italy’s Diversity http://mucciimports.com/?p=7672

To help sort through the hundreds of Italian varietals, I thought it would be interesting to take on some of Italy’s most important grapes, one at a time. I will do my best to summarize each grape’s history, where it is grown, and they types of wines that will come from it. Let’s start with Falanghina, thought to be one of Italy’s oldest varietals. So excited to have seen this pop on our twitter feed this morning. A great read about the Famoso varietal from unbelievably dedicated farmers like Mauro Altini of La Sabbiona. So proud to work with him and to bring this wine to the masses for the first time in MA. This is incredible story about the revival of a nearly extinct varietal, worth a read!!
