OUR JOURNEY
2001 – UNIDINE FOUNDED
Unidine was founded by Richard Schenkel in 2001 with an exclusive focus on food and dining management services. With a team of three employees, Unidine (then known as Summit Dining Services) set out to provide a viable alternative to senior facilities and hospitals, believing that the dining services market was poorly represented by outdated practices and techniq

ues, and dominated by global providers with a procurement-driven one-size-fits-all approach.

2003 – DEVELOPMENT OF THE UNIDINE WAY
In 2003, Richard Schenkel developed The Unidine Way, defining our company’s fundamental approach to food and dining management. Comprised of our corporate vision, mission, and values, The Unidine Way defines who we are and guides the actions of our team members in exceeding the needs of our partners and dining guests.

2006 – NAMED TO INC’S 500/5000 LIST
Unidine was named to Inc.’s 500/5000 list as one of America’s fastest growing privately-held companies. Unidine has been named to this list in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

2006 – NAMED TO BBJ PACESETTERS LIST
The Boston Business Journal announced Unidine as part of a list of the region’s fastest-growing privately held companies. To make the list, each company must report annual revenue growth of at least 20 percent. Unidine would be named to this list 4 more times, in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012.

2007 – INTRODUCTION OF OUR FRESH FOOD PLEDGE. Fresh Food Pledge was developed as part of a commitment to our clients and guests, outlining Unidine’s lasting commitment to scratch cooking and locally sourced ingredients that set the industry standard for quality, taste and freshness through each meal we serve.

2011 – UNIDINE FOUNDER AND CEO WINS ERNST & YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Company founder and CEO, Richard Schenkel, was recognized for the innovative, customer-centric organization he has built when he was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 New England award winner. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

2013 – PUREE WITH PURPOSE WINS SPIRIT OF INNOVATION AWARD
Unidine Client CHE Trinity Senior Living Communities was honored at the 2013 Long Term Care & Senior Living LINK Conference as a Spirit of Innovation Award winner for their “Puree with Purpose” program which was developed and implemented in partnership with Unidine. The program was one of twelve winners, selected from over 45 leading providers who submitted best-in-class ideas for the competition..

2014 – OH SO GOOD® PROGRAM INTRODUCTION
Unidine announced a nationwide launch of its innovative signature nutrition and wellness program OH SO GOOD®, designed to make healthy lifestyle choices easy for consumers.

2014 – FAME (FOOD AND MANAGEMENT ENTERPRISES) MERGES WITH UNIDINE
FAME merges with Unidine, expanding Unidine’s range of services to private schools, community colleges and government facilities.

2015 – UNIDINE RANKED #14 ON FOOD MANAGEMENT’S TOP 50 LIST
Unidine has placed #14 on Food Management’s Top 50 Contract Management Companies for 2015, moving up from #17 ranking achieved in 2013 and 2014.

2017 – WHERE WE ARE TODAY
Unidine now serves over 32 million meals annually, operating within more than 200 facilities nationwide and employs 4200 team members.

The Dobson, The newest restaurant inside The Pavilion at Glacier Hills, opened recently. Chef Jay Rahn and his culinary team have been busy creating beautifully plated dishes that could compete with any high-end restaurant in Ann Arbor.

Smoked Duck Breast served over Butternut Squash Purée with Fruit and Nut Rice Pilaf, Apple Braised Pork Shank served over a Creamy Polenta topped with an Apple and Fennel Salad, Short Rib Meatloaf served with Horseradish Whipped Potatoes and Glazed Carrots, Herb Butter Trout served over Sautéed Green Beans and Toasted Almonds, Focaccia Bread with a Whipped Butter or Herb Infused Olive Oil, and Whipped Goat Cheese topped with a Lavender infused Honey served with Grilled Bread.

Each month, one of our most anticipated nights at The Glen at Highland Meadows is hand-cut steaks and tuna night.

This month, residents enjoyed air-brined strip steaks with smoked sea salt, a roasted medley of mushrooms, golden pearl onions, crispy fried onions, creamy baked spinach, twice-baked loaded potato and homemade whipped tallow butter to glaze all the steaks.

Accompanying this was sesame grilled tuna with bacon butter-basted biscuit, apple cider glazed carrots and orange soy reduction.

Dinner service finished with freshly baked apple pie a la mode with maple cinnamon syrup.
