Homemade Teriyaki Sauce: Easy and Flavorful
Make your own teriyaki sauce at home with simple ingredients and enjoy that perfect balance of sweet and savory. This recipe is quick, versatile, and ideal for marinades, stir-fries, or dipping.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ¼ cup cold water
- (Optional: 1 tablespoon honey for extra sweetness)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
2. Heat over medium flame until the sugar dissolves.
3. Mix cornstarch with cold water in a small bowl, then add to the saucepan.
4. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens (about 5–10 minutes).
5. Adjust consistency by adding a splash of water if too thick, or simmer longer if too thin.
6. Let cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
