Koth Farms: Home-Grown Pork

Koth Farms: Home-Grown Pork Our family farm is on a mission to provide you with delicious pork you can trust, with no growth hormones or additives. All at a great price too!

We are a third-generation farm located in Botkins, Ohio owned by Gregory and Jean Koth. Our mission is to provide consumers with a local product that they can trust. All of our animals are born and raised on-site, so we can answer any questions you may have about the origins or quality of our pork. We do not use any growth hormones or implants in our animals. We primarily sell freezer pork by the

half or whole hog through Curly's Custom Meats in Jackson Center. If buying custom-butchered meat is new to you, please feel free to text or call and we would be glad to walk you through the process. Thank you for supporting your local farmer!

Preserving our own foods is part of our home-grown way of life. Our meat chickens got butchered last week, which means it’s time to boil down some bones with some vegetables and fresh herbs from the garden. The broth we get from one weekend of canning will last us all year, until chicken butchering season rolls around again. That’s the hope anyway…these kids eat more everyday. 🤪

We do the same when the raspberries are ripe and it’s time to make jam. Sometimes it’s pasta sauce or pickled beets. Just depends on what season we’re in and what’s available. Every year I learn at least one new recipe or food to store, because why not? It’s an easy decision for me to trade a weekend for better-tasting food year-round, and a lower bill at the grocery store to boot.

Do you can your own food too? What are your must-haves or new favorites? I’d love to hear them!

Can’t say that I would love water being sprayed in my face, but I’m 100 pounds lighter and I have functional sweat glands 😂

One season ends, and another one begins. We’ve been working hard on getting our gardens and flowerbeds in shape, and we’re almost there. I was doing some clean-up and watering when this gorgeous sunset happened. Thank you God, for the show. 🌅

Teaching in May is not for the faint of heart. I am exhausted, but filled with joy at the finish line. Watching my students graduate is one of the sweetest moments for me. I will miss them this summer. ☀️

A bright spot for you on a cool day…we have baby pigs again!! Kids found them first this time, and they came squealing up to the house to report the news. It never gets old. 🥰

Live your life like someone left the gate open. 😉

Dad’s cows have been locked up for a couple of days while the pasture dries out…you’d think it’s been months. I pray you feel their pure joy! ☀️
