Pulling the blush out of the garden. Lost multiple plants to hornworms this week. Chickens enjoyed the appetizers. Black Cherry is the winner this year for production. Sun Golds were sparse.

Asperitas clouds - rare cloud formations that resemble wave-like structures on the underside of a cloud layer. We have seen a few different examples of this over the past two weeks with the increased moisture from Mexico.

Lettuce was bolting. Bells were getting sunburned. Cuke plants were so wilted that I could finally see all of them hiding. Zukes...well, they grew overnight! It is time to sow seeds for the next round.♡

Dehydration isn't just about preserving food. It's about creating ingredients you'll actually use.

It requires minimal equipment, stores well without refrigeration, and can be used to preserve everything from fruits and vegetables to herbs, seasonings, snacks, and prepared foods.

In this free class, we'll explore multiple drying methods, including electric dehydrators, oven drying, air drying, and simple solar approaches. You'll also sample a variety of dehydrated foods that demonstrate just how versatile this preservation method can be.

Each participant will receive a take-home guidebook to continue learning at home.

This FREE class is offered through the Felton Library.

Although the library isn't requiring registration for this class, I'd appreciate an RSVP through the Raven Ridge Homestead website. Our first Food Preservation class in this series filled to capacity, and knowing how many people plan to attend helps me prepare enough seating, guidebooks, and tasting samples for everyone.

Nasty is growing faster than the pole beans, making the hummingbirds very happy. I am at that crazy part of the season where I begin to struggle with keeping up with daily tasks. Somethings gotta give. Enjoying the process, but balls will start dropping around me soon.
