The dwarfs continuously impress me with their resilience to our Colorado spring weather. Diminutive, perhaps. As flashy as the talls, probably not. But when it comes to vigor, forgiveness for (occasional) neglect, and adaptability... Go standard dwarf for your bearded iris needs. Luckily there's a local farm that sells about 100 varieties in their U-dig fields and online catalog (coming soon!).

Frost nicked, hail shredded, and snow smothered - miniature dwarfs certainly like to roll the dice with bloom times this early. Neither of these are 'good' blooms but sometimes we appreciate the struggle plants go through just to bring us some early color.

We've always had some talented artists come through the farm.

Some yield cameras,
Others, brushes.

Occasionally, their art finds its way into our office walls.

Although not for sale, certainly worth a leisurely stroll and mindful eye. You may even run into farming legends and while you're in there!
