Donut Goals
Chef Patty Cakes is Chef Patty Wilson, currently the pastry chef at the award-winning Spice of Life Catering in Boulder, CO., where she has taken their dessert offerings to a whole new level over the past 4 years and she’s also my wife so I might be a little biased. In the last year we have decided to explore the ability to have a child through IVF, previously we had believed we were unable to have kids due to Patty being diagnosed with PCOS years earlier and told she wouldn’t be able get pregnant. In 2018, at the age of 44 and after 6 months of being on the keto diet she surprised the hell out of me with news that she was pregnant! Might have been the happiest day of our lives and then shortly after seeing and hearing two tiny heartbeats at one of her Dr appointments she had a miscarriage and lost both. I can’t begin to put in words what that did to both of us. It was really devastating but over the last year we’ve discussed it more than once and after talking to numerous doctors and having multiple test we’ve decide to give IVF a try. Due to our age, we want the best chance available and IVF is what we believe will give us the highest odds to have our own little snotty headed loudmouth running around.
IVF isn’t cheap ($46,000 is our goal) so we’ve been trying to think of the best way to raise the funds we need and need quick as we aren’t getting younger! At first, we thought of getting 2nd jobs, but then we decided to just go with what she does best, which is make amazing pastries and develop crazed fans. So, we’re going to share something that she has perfected over the years and I’m sure will become one of your favorite addicting treats, just know if you get lucky enough to taste these delights, they are not your average donuts; these are handmade artisan donuts made in a limited batch each time that will leave you wanting more after every single bite.
She first started making these donuts years ago when she was working as the overnight pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton in Dallas and had special fans in the Jonas brothers that always requested them when they were in town. Since then she has dialed the taste and texture in even more and I can assure you that you’ll be licking your fingers when your done while wondering how they disappeared so fast!
I said before that I was biased, but I’m not a liar, these donuts will make you wish we we’re trying to have 10 kids because you’ll be wanting to eat more and more. This really is a dream of ours, both to have a kid and to put smiles on peoples faces. If you don’t like the way the cream on her nuts taste, then please let us know.
