It's been a busy time around here, goat shows, chicken shows, school work, bike riding, and just being boys! Hayden decided he needed to get working with Valentine. The Houlton Fair isn't far off. He decided he could practice with her in the donkey pen, then if she got away, she couldn't run off. No worries! She led like a dream.🥰

Busy week at school with the goats! Ruffles and Indy went to school Wednesday to hang out with Logan's class and their buddies! Everyone loved hanging out with the goats!
Thursday Hayden took Ruffles to school as part of his 5th grade aspiration project! Kids were so excited to see Ruffles again ❤️ The boys love sharing their animals with school mates and friends!

A bit of a change of pace. The boys have been working hard, so we treated them to a movie! They loved it!

This weekend brought us back to the Windsor fairgrounds! This time for the Central Maine Bird fanciers Spring show. Ray and Logan brought their birds to show! And show they did! Ray's rooster Pork was reserve best variety and his old English hens were first and second! Logan's bearded d'anvers were first and second and champion and reserve Rose comb Clean Leg in the youth show! Then the boys did showmanship, Ray and Hayden competed in intermediate showmanship Ray with First and Hayden with second!! Logan was a jr showman and won second place! Great job boys!!! They were even able to try their bird skills at chicken agility course!
Of course we came home with MANY extra birds! And hatching eggs 😁 watch out chicken world he come these boys!

Woah these couple days of heat has really brought out the death naps!

DEATH NAP- Refers to a nap taken by an animal where they are usually laying completely flat and look like they have became unalive. Often resulting in their caretakers having cardiac arrest thinking they are unalived.

Northeast Livestock Expo focused on promoting youth in livestock was this past weekend! Youth clinics and talks are available for you to attend to better themselves for their livestock projects. Friday they invite students statewide to attend educational exhibits about livestock and agriculture. They had about 1500 students in attendance this year!
Saturday was goat day for us! Hayden brought Red Lightening and attended a showmanship workshop put on by Emily Williams which had Alot of great pointers and tips for when he's in the show ring! Filled by a clipping and fitting demonstration. He loves the before and after of this doe! It's amazing how much a clip job can change a goat!! Followed by a pig roast dinner with all the fixings and a fundraiser auction!
Sunday was sheep day. Logan and Lucky participated in a showmanship and fitting clinic as well as a market animal talk. It was full of great information thanks to Sarah and Alyssa Rowe. The afternoon was showmanship classes so you could put to test everything you just learned! Logan's first show and he was 4th place out of 8! Competing with kids up to 3 years older then him! The did a breed show too and out of the 4 Katadins in attendance Lucky won the show!
Hayden and Logan had a wonderful weekend! They played with old friends and made some new ones! And hopefully learned something along the way!
