Our amazing farm team prepping/washing/packing for our CSA deliveries this week. In the winter time, everyone pitches in on all the things that need doing while the farm is slower and not much is growing. So the greenhouse team washes spinach, our tractor operators wash and bag sweet potatoes, our delivery drive bags. It’s a real collaborative effort to adjust to all the seasons and swings of farming. And this time of year it’s nice to have all these awesome folks in one place, it’s like the silver lining to another day of single digit temps on the farm :)

The light is changing, and I swear I could hear it in the bird song this morning, we’re pulling out of the darkest winter months. That means this CSA farm is starting to plan for the heat and hustle of summer and Summer Share signups are OPEN. Signing up early helps us: 1) Maintain cash flow when purchasing and staffing are long and sales are short 2) Helps us plan for having the right amount of veggies for the summer, as we’re starting lots of crops in the next month 3) Guarantees your space and lets you sign up for limited add ons before they sell out. 4) Gives you time to get excited, learn the ropes, and get connected before the season is in full swing.

Kicking January off with an ice storm! Our first week of Sunrise shares is on its way out to CSA members this week, and while January isn’t really known for its abundance, we think it looks pretty delicious! Big thanks to our members, staff, and vendors for dealing with the weather like champs!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and this year we’ve got an awesome, single-delivery, customizable veggie box full of everything you need for Thanksgiving dinner. It is the end of August (for non-farmers, this means we have been hustling since May and are exhausted, still have weeks to go in the busy season, and are looking ahead to lots of heavy lifting with fall harvests) and this team is still bringing it every day. I can’t say enough what a joy it is to have all these folks on the team, and how critical their professionalism and teamwork and genuine care about farming are to the everyday operations of feeding our customers and members! It’s peak summer! We are swimming in veggies, tired and probably a little dehydrated, but cruising through the sweetest and often most stressful time of year. Everyone agrees that this has been the fastest summer on record - so we’re trying to savor these last sweaty hazy days before it becomes sweater weather.
