Summer heat is here and it’s got the cattle searching for shade. If you ever want to know where the coolest spot in a pasture is, just look for the herd on a sunny summer day.

Whenever you have severe animal impact in areas, like under a shade tree, I’m always excited to see how it impacts the regrowth of different plant species.

Bree is trying her hardest to make friends with this curious little guy. Looks like he’s not sure if he’d rather get pets or run away. Getting your animals used to human interaction is key to keeping them calm and us safe. The happier and calmer the animal the healthier and more weight they’ll put on!

Laying hens are back on pasture and on the move! Unlike the broilers, that prefer fairly short grass, the layers don’t mind making their way through the grass jungle. More bugs and reduced sight from aerial predators make these layers right at home in this mess of forage.
