Friday's top steer prices by weight group showcased exceptional demand across multiple regions, with several auctions posting the highest reported prices in the country within their respective weight classes. Eastern Missouri Commission Co. (Bowling Green, MO) dominated the lightweight categories, posting the nation's top 300-399 lb, 400-499 lb, and 500-599 lb steer prices. The sale featured 13 head averaging 379 lbs at $622.00/cwt, establishing a new barn record for 3-weight steers. Eastern Missouri also sold 11 head averaging 448 lbs at $545.00/cwt, the third-highest 4-weight steer price in barn history, and 16 head averaging 527 lbs at $512.00/cwt, ranking as the third-highest 5-weight steer sale ever recorded at the barn.
Verdigre Stockyards (Verdigre, NE) posted the highest reported 600-699 lb steer price in the country, selling 13 head averaging 607 lbs at $490.00/cwt and setting a new barn record for 6-weight steers. Herreid Livestock Auction (Herreid, SD) led the nation in the 700-799 lb and 900-999 lb categories, with 21 head averaging 708 lbs bringing $412.00/cwt and 61 head averaging 937 lbs selling for $363.25/cwt. The 9-weight sale ranks as the sixth-highest in barn history. Burwell Livestock Market (Burwell, NE) posted the highest reported 800-899 lb steer price in the country, selling 70 head averaging 803 lbs at $400.50/cwt, a new barn record for 8-weight steers. Lanesboro Sales Commission (Lanesboro, MN) topped the 1,000-1,099 lb category with 53 head averaging 1,019 lbs bringing $339.50/cwt, the second-highest 10-weight steer price in barn history.
