CLARA LIVE πŸ“Š 7-WT Surge: 2nd Highest Ever as April Takes Control of the Record Book

7-weight steers surged again on Friday, posting the 2nd highest weighted average in U.S. history at $399.87, trailing only the $404.68 mark set earlier in April. The top 10 all-time list continues to be dominated by recent trade, with April accounting for seven of the ten highest averages, while February holds the remaining three spots. This concentration highlights how quickly the market has accelerated through the spring, with multiple sessions pushing into record territory within just a few weeks. After a softer tone in prices earlier in the week, Friday’s surge came as a welcome shift in momentum.

The strength was supported by a strong set of top-end sales, with Ft. Pierre, SD leading at $439.00 and Burwell, NE placing five sales in the top 10. Additional contributions came from Dunlap, IA, Mankato, KS, and Eastern Missouri, showing broad participation across key feeding regions. Fridays can see sharper moves because receipts are often lighter and more concentrated from the Northern Plains, giving those sales more influence on the weighted average.
