Life Update:
Much thanks to everyone for your kindness and words of encouragement.
Everything went great today! The doctor was able to clear two blockages with balloons and no stent was needed! I'm staying overnight for observation and should be able to go home tomorrow. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Garden and Life Update:
Many of you have reached out with questions about the garden, so here are answers regarding the latest garden status:
1. Q: Is the you-pick open?
A: Yes, it is, but it is still very early in the season. There is cosmos, amaranth, celosia, yarrow, and statice blooming. The gladiolus are just now beginning to bloom, and the zinnias and sunflowers still have a few weeks to catch up. They need consistent warm weather.
2. Q: What are your hours?
A: The you-pick is open dawn to dusk, 7 days a week.
3. Q: Are there bouquets in the Flower Cottage?
A: No, it's too early in the season. I'll post as soon as bouquets are available.
4. Q: How much is the you-pick?
Pitchers: $15
Buckets: $25
Hand held bouquet: $10
5. Q: How do I pay?
A: Cash or check? Place in the Honesty box in the Flower Cottage
Debit or Credit? Just scan the QR Codes posted
Venmo?
6. Q: Is Professional Photography permitted?
A: Yes, just please tag us on social media. We also welcome donations.😊
🌹Now, the life update:
This Spring has been tough. I was short-handed during planting season, but thanks to friends and family who pitched in, we finally got the garden planted. Then came the drought, so we were watering, trying to keep seedlings alive. Then, after the seeding, came the rain and cooler temps that weren't ideal for the zinnias and sunflowers. As a result, both are slow coming on this year.
Through it all, I was tired and discouraged. My "heart" just wasn't in it. In fact, I was beginning to tire more easily and feel winded. Then three weeks ago, I started having some short episodes of chest pain which I brushed off as muscle pain. After all, I had started strength training and cardio in November. It was probably just muscle pain, I told myself.
However, over the weekend, I had another episode of dull chest pain that radiated to my back and did not go away. A trip to TriStar Emergency Care resulted in an ambulance ride to the hospital, admittance, and tests that determined that I have three coronary blockages. One is severe enough that I'm having an angioplasty procedure in the morning.
I want to share this because most of my customers are women. Often, by nature, we work through our aches and pains, or just brush them off as minor.
Fortunately, I listened to my body, and to my dear sister who made me promise if I had another "episode " I would go to the doctor. I did this time. Remember, women's heart symptoms do not always manifest in the classic way men's do. Take care of yourself. Seek medical help when in doubt.
So, after tomorrow, I'll be healing at home for a few weeks. Then I hope to be back in the garden. Feel free to send your thoughts and prayers in any way or fashion.
They are appreciated.
Until then, take care, enjoy the garden, and feel free to pull a w**d or two? Lol They don't seem to mind drought, rain, cool, or hot weather! 🌹
