It’s been a busy and exciting Fall building out our new grazing home base along the Gallatin River getting it ready for cattle. We’ve had beautiful Fall working weather and even better help. We will be back in beef biz in ‘25.

Our beef herd this morning after a pasture move. We move them to fresh grass every 1-2 days to create an even impact on the pastures we graze. On this particular pasture, we have a lot of Canadian thistle (this has been a hayfield for decades). By grazing at a higher density, the cattle are taking a bite off of nearly every plant in this section, even the thistle heads! After 1 day of grazing, this area won’t see any grazing until next Spring, allowing the plants to fully recover. Our cattle are doing incredibly well—some of our 2 year olds are gaining over 3 lbs per day.

Fun fact— our cattle are grazing a meadow where William Clark and Sacagawea camped on their return trip to St. Louis. Makes me think how We’re all just passing through for a moment of time until the next.

shout out to this guy. he works so incredibly hard on this business and he does it because he is deeply connected to the land (all lands really) and because he sincerely cares for the well-being of our cattle. *and* he does all of that while prioritizing our relationship and having a life outside of ranching, which if you're in the ranching world, you know can be really hard! so yeah, i snapped this picture of him today and it made me want to share some gratitude. 🖤

Picked up our latest batch of our beef from the butcher today! I am not exaggerating when I say this may be one of the best New York Strips I've ever had. Christian grilled them on the smoker perfectly and they were quite literally melt in your mouth tender. Accompanied by a winter veggie medley featuring veggies from our own garden + some from winter CSA and a kale salad inspired by the one everyone knows from that we are obsessed with. 🖤🖤 This is the good stuff people! 😍
