Sometimes it's the little things. ❤️

A sweet customer, Beckie and family, left this at the egg stand today to brighten my day—and it absolutely worked.

It's a beautiful little solar-powered spinner that charges during the day and glows at night. I'm excited to see it all lit up this evening! ✨

Running a small farm stand isn't just about eggs, flowers, honey, and all the things we put out there. It's also about the wonderful people we get to meet along the way. Acts of kindness like this mean more than you know.

🥖 Exciting News for Our Skinny Legs n' Eggs Customers! 🥖

One of the most requested items at the farm stand has been fresh homemade sourdough bread. While we won't be baking or selling sourdough ourselves, we may have found a way to connect our customers with a local farm that does.

First, I want to say that after my recent post asking for sourdough recommendations, I realized just how many talented sourdough bakers we have in the Gallatin Valley. So many wonderful people and small farms were recommended, and I truly appreciate everyone who took the time to share their favorites.

After looking into several options, I reached out to Homestead on H**b in Manhattan. While there are many great bakers in our area, their story and mission really resonated with me, which is why I chose to reach out to them.

We've recently been talking with Homestead on H**b about the possibility of using Skinny Legs n' Eggs as a weekly pickup location for preordered breads. Customers would order directly from them and then pick up their orders here at the stand.

What really inspired me to reach out wasn't just the bread—it was their story.

Homestead on H**b is a family farm working toward growing their family through surrogacy after experiencing unimaginable loss. Their farm stand and products help support that journey, and their story really struck a chord with me. As a fellow small farm, I love the idea of supporting another local family while also bringing something many of you have been asking for to our community.

Their sourdough is made using organic and/or European ingredients, and they offer a variety of traditional sourdough products including loaves, boules, focaccia, and soft sandwich bread.

Nothing is finalized just yet, but we're working through the details and wanted to see what kind of interest there might be.

Does anyone know of a roadside stand, honor-system stand, owner-assisted stand, or small farm stand in the Gallatin Valley that offers fresh homemade sourdough bread? 🍞

We've had quite a few people asking for sourdough at Skinny Legs n' Eggs Farm, and while we don't currently offer it, I'd love to have somewhere local to send folks when they ask.

I'm specifically looking for good homemade sourdough made with simple ingredients from a local farm stand or small producer.

Today we lost one of our brown ducks on Fowler Ln.

I'm going to be a little more direct than I normally am.

Please slow down.

Ducks don't move fast. They don't suddenly appear out of nowhere. They don't sprint into traffic. If you're watching the road, you will see them long before you reach them.
We even have a duck crossing sign posted.
This time of year our ducks are breeding, wandering, and living the free-range life they've always had. We could lock them behind fences and cages, but we'd rather give them the freedom to live naturally. We accept the responsibility that comes with that, and every evening at dusk they are locked up safely for the night.

During the day, however, they're out doing what ducks do.

We depend on drivers to pay attention and use common sense.

Fowler Ln is not a race track.

Whether it's a duck, a dog, a deer, a child, or a piece of equipment in the road, slowing down and staying alert matters.

Today it was one of our ducks. Tomorrow it could be someone else's beloved animal—or something far worse.

Please slow down. Please pay attention. And please help us keep Fowler Ln safe for everyone who lives here, both two-legged and four-legged.

🌧️ Good Morning and Happy Saturday! 🌧️

Even on a rainy Montana morning, there are so many blessings around us if we slow down long enough to notice them.

It's easy to get caught up in the daily grind—the work, the chores, the schedules, and the endless to-do lists. Before we know it, days turn into weeks and weeks into years.

One of my favorite quotes is from The Shawshank Redemption:

"Get busy living, or get busy dying."

A simple reminder that life isn't meant to just be endured—it's meant to be lived.

Today, take a moment to enjoy your coffee a little longer, listen to the rain, hug your loved ones, spend time with your animals, and appreciate the little things that make life beautiful.

The dishes can wait. The laundry can wait. Life is happening right now.

And for those wondering, yes—we've got the farm stand fully stocked and ready for the weekend, rain or shine! 🥚🌻🍯
