For those that don’t know why we haven’t been seen at the farmers markets this season. Farm injuries were had and modern medicine has us on the mend, and so this season will be the first season in a few years that we won’t be able to be at the market all season. We do miss seeing everyone, but perhaps we can make a few appearances later in the season after we’re more healed!

It might be April 1st, but we aren’t pulling any pranks with this little guy. We wanted to announce that we have finally settled on a name that we feel fits him perfectly!

We want to formally introduce Ferdinand.

We absolutely appreciate the incredible and creative names that were suggested from everyone, they were truly fantastic and it made the decision challenging!

We will be sure to share pictures of Ferdinand and we will be posting even more cuteness in the coming weeks as calving season continues.

We don’t know the genders yet, but names will be needed for these little ones! Feel free to comment suggestions or ideas. Any guesses on genders for anyone wanting to try and predict them?

Crazy what changes occur in a year! Mayor is our big boy that loves to be brushed, scratched, and given tons of treats! Though he is pushing 600 pounds, he is still very playful and young at heart.
He still knows how to sit, he knows his name, and he knows the words of his favorite treats such as cookies and marshmallows. He knows he doesn’t like anything spicy, and he recognizes peppers as being spicy when he sees them. Pigs are very intelligent and make great companions!
Working with him consistently has made him very comfortable with us. Not all pigs are the same personality and trait wise, so always do research when deciding to raise pigs to ensure you get what is most suitable for what you’re looking for.

It’s the season for fresh produce!
We love this time of year as nothing beats freshly grown vegetables and fruit. We are often asked if we spray or treat our garden, and the answer is, no, we do not.
We do not use any pesticides or chemicals on our plants to avoid harming the bees and local pollinators! We find this leaves the produce tasting fresh and delicious, but it also benefits the environment and ensures our wildlife remains healthy and safe from potential exposure.
It’s a bit of a struggle at times, but we feel it’s worth every hurdle we encounter.

Fun fact Monday:
This is one of our one year old roosters…. His breed might be obvious, but he is a Silkie… what is super interesting about chickens is the variety they can come in, especially silkies. There are bearded, non bearded, satins, standards, and even frizzles, plus they come in a variety of colors including black, white, cuckoo, splash, blue, buff, and more!

Each have their own personalities that make them so charming, and of course they’re very calm and docile!

It’s clear skies, plenty of sun, and a nice cool breeze! These ladies are enjoying every second of it!

On the farm we see all sorts of wildlife. When we see deer, we enjoy that many have remained on the farm for several years, calling the farm their home and feeling safe enough to raise their fawns here. During this time we do our best to be quieter and to not bother them, but sometimes when moving the cows, we come across views like this. The mothers are quite used to us, but nevertheless we try to not interfere as much as possible. This is just one of the little ones born on the farm this year, and we had the opportunity to watch it run and play around its mother later in the day.
