🌾 Summer Grazing: How's your forage quality? 🌾

Summer heat has brought mixed conditions for grazing and hay production this year. In some areas with adequate moisture, the grazing season has been favorable, but heat often speeds up grass maturity, leading to increased fiber and reduced digestibility and protein.

Conversely, excessive moisture in other regions has resulted in some low-quality hay harvests.

What i notice is the lack of flies - not that they don’t have some but how few they have

A combination of things perhaps?

Yes i believe the fly tags helped

Yes i believe the Crystalyx product we call Mineralyx with Clarifly (for fly control) which they’ve been on all summer also contributing to the the fly control success

Stopped to checkout some corn tonight and heres what we found in this particular field

Also have some hail damage on the leaves and a little crazy top going on but only on the suckers -

A little s**t on the 8320 but only on the crazy top - the rest of the plant/ear looks good

Both are AP Select hybrids planted at 24,000
