Today has all the bird flipping feels! Some days are just like that and they are everywhere! Also thanks aunt sherry for the new family heirloom! 😂

Theses little baby turkeys didn’t sell and they are now big enough to free range now that they know the barn is safe for them. Also my little barn cats are so cute and well behaved with them!

It’s a quiet morning for me when the hubby was on fire dept calls all night and the girls are still sleeping. I love mornings where I can just do my own thing. No talking, no planning, just my coffee, me and my thoughts. I find myself more motivated. Just this morning I already planted my pineapple sage, strawberries and moved some more chicks to a brooder in the barn. Just me and my trusty steads Marley, Wally, and copper. What do you do when you have time all to yourself?

The learning curve on a farm is sharp. These last few years have taught us that. Some days you lose and some days you win. The losses still suck but those first few losses were heart breaking and hard lessons. We learned why and how exactly things need to be done because if you don’t, lives are lost. This morning we lost a piglet, sad but I also understand now too that only the strong survive and that’s what we want. There was no dwelling, we understand and we have to move on because pigs have to be loaded for market and chores have to be done. Farmers may seem hard, but they just learned how to process the emotions in real time.
