Day 18 — Lockdown day!
I just took the eggs out of the turners and laid them on bumpy shelf paper so their little legs will have some traction after they hatch. They’ll stay in the incubator for a day or two until they’re dry, and then into the brooder they’ll go!😍
Unfortunately, our English Orpington eggs didn’t develop—probably a combination of rough handling during shipping from North Carolina and the power being out for six hours last week, which caused the temperature and humidity in the incubator to drop. The Buff Orpingtons from Broken K Farms in Lucedale toughed it out, though!🐣❤️

Hey friends 💛
What started as a little farm with goats, pigs, and chickens had to pause when we moved into the city.
The chickens were always our favorite and now that we’re able to have them again, we’re excited to start fresh with fluffy English Orpingtons!
With this new chapter comes a new name:
✨ The Hen Party ✨
For now, it’s just a small backyard flock, no plans to sell anything at this point, just sharing our excitement for English Orpingtons.
Follow along as we grow, starting with the first group currently in the incubator and set to hatch April 15th 🐣
