One thing I've noticed this spring is the number of ladybugs around the flower farm. Whether they're here because the flowers are attracting them or because they're finding plenty to eat, I'm happy to have them around.

Recently I released some more beneficial ladybugs to the gardens. At the very least, they're fun to watch. 😄

The countdown to flower season is on!

Soon we'll be harvesting armloads of fresh, locally grown flowers, creating bouquets, and hosting workshops. As we get ready for another season, I have a small favor to ask.

If you've enjoyed our flowers, attended a workshop, or received one of our bouquets, would you consider leaving a review on Facebook or Google?

Your reviews help small businesses like ours grow, help new customers feel confident choosing us, and make it easier for people to discover locally grown flowers.

Thank you for supporting. I truly appreciate every share, comment, recommendation, and review. 💜

The Garden Aroma

I know I'm a bit biased since I love gardening..both flowers and produce, but yesterday while doing some garden maintenance, I was reminded of a few of my favorite garden scents.

Have you ever smelled a Bells of Ireland? They have such a fresh, clean scent. They're one of the flowers that get double netting because any overhead watering can cause them to flop over as water collects in the bells. I hope you'll get the chance to smell a Bells of Ireland for yourself soon!

Next, I moved over to the eucalyptus to do some weeding. I don't mind cleaning around those plants at all because eucalyptus is one of my favorite scents. The variety I'm growing is especially fragrant, too.

Lastly, the tomatoes needed mulch. I lay down a row of newspaper and then cover it with straw. It helps with weeds, moisture, and splashing but, I also enjoy brushing past the plants. Fresh tomato leaves have such a distinct garden smell that I love(probably because I LOVE fresh garden tomatoes)

Does anyone else have favorite garden scents? Or do you love any of these as much as I do? Soil after a rain? Peonies? Basil?

Happy June!

Just over here patiently waiting for flower season.

Thankfully, a few flowers are starting to make that wait a little prettier. 💜🩷

The first succession of flowers is mostly planted! I still have a few more going in next month, but we're getting there. Come July these rows will be full of blooms.

So where can you find our flowers this season?

🌸 Workshops-We partner with several local businesses to offer fun, garden-style floral workshops. I bring the flowers freshly harvested and ready to design with, and you get to create your own arrangement by choosing the flowers, colors, and style you like best. They're always a fun time! Come alone, bring a friend or have a group outing.

💐 Grab-and-Go Wraps & Arrangements Need a fresh bouquet? You'll be able to find our flowers at various locations around the Sioux Falls area throughout the season. Watch for announcements as those opportunities pop up.

🌿 Custom Orders Looking for a bouquet or arrangement for a special occasion, or just because? Send me a message and I'd be happy to help.

South Dakota gives us a pretty short growing season, which makes those flowers feel even more special. I hope you'll take some time to enjoy locally grown flowers while they're here.

*And yes, that is a garter snake..they love hanging out under the warm fabric and making me jump 🫣

One of the best parts of owning a small farming business is being able to include my children in it. And what little girl doesn’t love playing with flowers?

These two helped mulch around some of the larger flowers this weekend. They’re outside, supporting the business, learning how to work, and making memories right alongside me.

As they grow, I can’t wait to keep teaching them, including them, and hopefully showing them what hard work, passion, and building something of your own can look like.

Flower Friday!

Celosia is one of my favorite filler flowers to grow and use in bouquets.

It comes in wheat, plume, and cockscomb varieties with colors ranging from soft and neutral to bright and bold. Some blooms are spiky while others are soft and feathery, adding lots of texture and interest to arrangements.

Celosia has an impressive vase life of up to 2 weeks!

You’ll be seeing plenty of celosia in my bouquets throughout the season.

And of course I added a few new varieties for this season!
