Burntwood Gardens

Burntwood Gardens Burntwood Gardens is the start of a dream. We have a farm, lots of plans, and lots of possibilities. We love hosting, growing, and creating delicious food.

Our first steps will be starting a bed and breakfast, and working on getting to know the land.

Garden in full swing! It is hard to remember how luscious everything is at the beginning of summer as plants are wrapping up their journeys before fall. It’s important to look back and remember all the hard work we put in this year, especially when things feel like they are getting away from us in the fall.

It is so exciting seeing a prairie burst to life with yellow from all native seeds I planted with friends. These yellow beauties are called partridge peas and feed a whole host of wildlife while adding long lasting color for us and feeding nitrogen into the soil by creating beneficial relationships with the microbiome of the earth. There are dots of the slower growers like black-eyed susans, and the end of season for wild bergamont and mountain mint as well. Can’t wait to see it next year.

Pumpkin cornbread! So delicious and so so tender. Barely even needed honey or butter, but we added them anyway. 🤭

Being in a space with so many trees you can actually see the moisture in the air from their perspiration is a beautiful thing.

Habanada paprika! Made a big batch of habanada powder for seasoning things. It is so fun making something so delicious on the farm from seed to seasoning in one summer.
