Bowen Farmstead we are dedicated to raising grass-based livestock and producing fine artisan raw cheese. Situated in the gentle hills of Maryland’s Prince George's County, our diverse multi-species farm seeks to mimic the patterns of nature with old-fashioned grazing techniques coupled with modern technologies. The different animal species work symbiotically with each other to heal and build our s

oil, and to produce high-quality foods that heal and nourish our bodies. Hormones, growth-enhancers, antibiotics, pesticides and herbicides are never used on P.A. Bowen Farmstead, we emphasize rotational grazing for all farm species. All animals are provided with a habitat that allows them to thrive: pigs root through the forests; broilers in their chicken tractors and hens roaming freely work over the pastures recently grazed on by our dairy herd; our beautiful Jersey cows, milked just once a day, are given new pasture twice daily. The grain mix fed to our pigs and poultry (and in very small amounts to our cows) is non-GMO and corn/soy-free, and mostly locally grown. All products are sold in our old-fashioned on-farm store and at select local farmers markets. We offer:

Fresh-baked bread from Bakers & Co. in Annapolis includes Urban Rustico, a classic pain de campagne made with natural levain, baked on a stone hearth, and Rough & Ready, a multigrain boule packed with whole wheat, sesame, sunflower, flax, millet, and oats. Both are made with organic flour, and without preservatives, additives, sugars, or fats.

This week begins our season of FRESH CHICKEN! We will be processing approximately 80-100 birds most weeks throughout the summer and fall. Whole birds, livers, hearts, gizzards, heads, and feet are all available at the Farm Store, the Saturday Anne Arundel County Farmers Market, and the First Sunday Market at Honey's Harvest Farm. Please note there may be limits on livers and hearts, due to high demand.
