Less than 24 hours ago the crazy started!! I was gifted 3 ducks, one injured. Their flock was attacked by a dog and only 3 remain. Not sure if the injured one is going to survive, so it’s not pictured. I was told the 2 Muscovy are female. I’m not familiar with this breed, so I’m hoping for the best. After getting the injured duck set up with food, water and shelter, I noticed that my silkie/bantam mix chicks were not safe in their current house, so I set them up in a new pen. They are soooo tiny, they can squeeze through chicken wire and small square openings. Had to reinforce the new pen. At the same time, I noticed that another silkie mama had stopped sitting on eggs and at least one of them was chirping. Sent out a 911 to Rusted Redbird with a panicked “what do I do”. After candling, found one not viable, one in the early stages of development with a heartbeat, one I’m unsure about and one needing another 12-24 hours. Got the incubator up and running, then helicopter mom-ed all night. 6:50 am, I heard it crawl out of its shell. Yay!! Went out to check on all the animals, went in the office to make coffee and found mama Sabrina had her kittens. She was very clingy yesterday and that would be why. So, now I’ve got 2, maybe 3, new ducks, one new chick and 6 new kittens. All since 2:00 pm yesterday. Thank you Rusted Redbird for answering my cry for help and putting up with my crazy!!🤪
