It is almost time to say farewell to our peonies. I expect only one more bloom for the year, but we enjoyed them while they were here.

What does a flower farmer do when she finishes planting the gardens?

Plant more seeds!

I know I said I was finished, but there are truly only a few months out of the year when I am not planting seeds.

This week, I will continue to plant weekly successions of sunflowers and I’ve begun my first round of garden maintenance. I’m now going row by row to w**d, sow seeds in empty spots, mulch and prune the flowers to improve flower height and encourage branching.

Goal met!

With about 30 minutes of daylight to spare, I finished planting the garden by the end of May! 🙌 I’m a very happy girl.

Progress!I’ve now completed 37/42 planting areas. 88%, a solid B, with a few days left until my goal deadline.

For the past few years, I’ve set a goal for myself to get the garden planted by the end of May.

I’ve yet to hit that goal.

What do you think of my chances this year?

It sure seems like I have a long way to go in just a few days, but the labor intensive work is mostly done and most of the remainder will be direct seeded successions which take me less time. I’ve got a chance.

A rare photo of this guy sitting down, enjoying a beautiful night on the farm.

25 years ago today, Brad and I were married. At the time, I had no idea how beautiful of a life we would create together.

I’m thankful for every bit of it.

Grateful for the sacrifice behind the everyday blessings we so often take for granted. 🇺🇸

This little seedling feels a lot like life lately.

I often post the flowers, sunsets, and beautiful moments around the farm — and those things are real. They matter. But behind them is also a lot of ordinary hard stuff: off-farm jobs, tired evenings, laundry piles, tangled water hoses, worries that keep you awake, and carrying challenges I didn’t plan for.

There have been moments recently where life has felt heavier than usual. But somehow, even there, hope keeps showing up.

One reason that our family can keep moving forward is our faith in Jesus and the hope and peace that comes along with trusting in Him. The kind of things that you can’t always see yet. The kind that asks you to plant anyway, work anyway, trust anyway.

Faith and farming have a lot in common that way.

You put tiny things into the ground believing something beautiful can still grow, even after hard seasons.

So we keep planting.
We keep showing up.
We know that God is still at work.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
