Farm Camp Vermont

Farm Camp Vermont Empowering youth ages 4-15 since 2005. Harvest, cook, build, care for animals, make friends. Collaborators welcome!

Come grow, cook, build, care for animals and explore the living laboratory at Brook Meadow Farm! Brook Meadow Farm is the wonderful new Brattleboro home of Vermont Farm Camp. Run by Lisa Holderness in collaboration with area parents, children, schools, and other great folks, our mission is to promote a more just, joyful and sustainable community. This beautiful 38 acres serves as a living laborato

ry for responsible stewardship of land, buildings, and community relationships. We currently grow flowers and veggies, and are working on a new maple sugaring operation.

I met Sam when he was working here in Brattleboro with Youth Ag and the WRCC. The WRCC cancelled the horticulture and Ag program, at a time we need it more than ever, and youth interest in Sustainable Agriculture is high.

Kudos to Sam Rowley, sustainable ag instructor at GMTCC Green Mountain Tech and Career Center. He was presented with our award at this year's Annual Celebration.

Sam works at Robtoy Farm, which the school leases for its sustainable agriculture program. The farm is located on our property in Cambridge.

As a teacher, Sam offers high school students hands-on farm experience. He teaches them about everything from livestock to vegetables -- including how to harvest, package, and sell vegetables back to the community.

“Vermont has a great capacity to feed our population and our neighbors,” he says. “The only way to do that is to spark some interest in the people who live here.”

I do feel for those who will experience this as a loss - but that loss does not weigh against the need for a more welcoming school. Its time to peel off the bandaid and heal in the air and light.

This petition was started by BUHS grad Freesia Capy-Goldfarb whom I’ve known since she was a bump, and though she’s young, she’s already matured past many of us and is making a difference. Thanks Freesia for conceiving, writing, and posting.

Change the Racist Colonel of Brattleboro Union High School. 61 signatures are still needed!

Farm Camp 2019 - Two more weeks. Teachers are welcome to contact us about observing/participating. How do we prepare children to plan and execute their own goals? To create a more just, joyful and sustainable life? At Farm Camp kids of all ages plan, harvest, prepare and share in abundance and gratitude. They make choices throughout the week, identify projects and break them down with backwards planning, and take more responsibility as the week goes on until they run things, including meal planning, clean up, and reflection. This week: building a room for the compost toilet, choosing the best seed to save, and planting for winter and spring harvests. They fill us with hope, laughter and spontaneous song.
