We have a grass finished beef for sale, $2.00 a pound live weight, delivered to the butcher. Whole, halves or quarter as long as it equals up to one whole! :-)

It is a Hereford steer, probably 1100-1200 lbs.

Going to be a busy weekend, our first CSA pick ups, planning to get our pigs and also our lambs. Need to move the replacement hens out of the chicken tractor into the chicken wagon. Not to mention plant and transplant more vegetables, get the gardens completely mulched before crazy heat or humidity get here. Makes me a little tired just typing all of it! :-)

Time to order lambs, if you are interested grass fed lamb this fall please let me know ASAP! We will be going to pick up the lambs soon. They will be $3 a lb and ready the end of October. We raised two last year and were amazed at how delicious they were!

funny how fickle we are, in April I thought all that dry weather wasn't good, 'is this going to lead to a year of drought?' now in May I am thinking good grief can we just get a day without rain and some sunshine!

Okay so you are probably wondering, 'what happened to the farm?' well farming is happening on the farm and hence no posts :-) but it is raining today so I have time to sit and write something. We have been busy around here, we now have 2 bulls calves who will be responsible for eating the grass in front of the chicken 'tractors', we have 80 replacement pullets, 150 Cornish Cross meat chickens. We will hopefully be getting lambs within a week or two. I have been resisting the urge to put out bee boxes to see if I can catch a swarm of honeybees, don't think I have time this season! The garden is coming along, potatoes, peas, radishes, green beans, cucumbers, kale, carrots, onions, garlic and lettuce planted along with several things transplanted out of the greenhouse. We have also inoculated over 50 logs with shiitake mushroom spawn which will hopefully produce this fall. I was hoping to have some pictures but alas the battery is dead in the camera, something else for the to do list :)
Come see us sometime if you don't mind crazy business, mud and being put to work. Lots of weeds to pull, chicks to move, electric fence to build and brambles to transplant.

Time to order meat chickens, if you are interested please place your order by March 28th 8 p.m. They will arrive mid April and be ready early June. We will most likely do a batch in the fall as well if you would like to split your order. Finished bird will be freezer ready $3 lb.
