This is why we put up with farm chores during harsh winters and scorching summers
Fresh pork, grown on our farm, I know everything these hogs were fed, I know how they were treated and what their daily life was like. I chased them from one end of the property to the other when they broke hot wires. I learned a ton this year working with the feed mill to tweak our ratios to produce good marbling with smaller fat caps. We fought freezing temps even with water heaters and round bales of warmth. We fought heat stroke even with fans and fresh water.
It's never ending. But having customers call me and tell me they were happy with their last hog but are happier with this batch means so much to me.
And now, I'm really excited to have our own private label meat starting with our next round of animals.
This is something I've been working towards for a while but didn't actually see it happening anytime soon. (USDA is not the easiest thing to navigate lol)
But god is good && hard work makes goals possible.

Until then we will have some fresh pork available to those who shop the farm stand (starting next week) via an order ahead process.

3rd and final day at the Clay City Fair.
We left Disco at home today and brought Dolly out to visit with the kids.
We'll be here from 6- 8ish today (we're leaving early so make sure we're unloaded before the fireworks start)

Clay City Fair is one of our favorite small petting zoos of the year. It's always a good time and we always get the sweetest littles that come to visit our furry (and scaly & spiky) friends.

But next year the girls have asked that we upgrade and bring out just as many friends as we do for the big set ups.

Look at this sweet, widdle, precious, blue eyed, perfect marking, menace!!! I am sooo excited about him....... his momma on the other hand, is ready for him to leave her alone. Even when she's asleep he will push his head under her to nurse. Knowing good and well he's not even hungry 😂
