Don’t make this mistake!
One thing we pride ourselves on, and it’s not always easy, is keeping our twins on their dam. We rarely have to bottle feed.
This time we had triplets and they were slow to nurse on their own so we supplemented colostrum.
This is the first time we used one specific colostrum without milking mom out and supplementing with her milk too.
Huge mistake!! Huge! We knew better. We know mamas milk is the best and we just didn’t think about it because we had 3 to deal with and mixing colostrum was just easier.
It was not easier in the long run! The girls all got scours which we treated and we gave Bovi-Sera which works hands down if your colostrum isn’t enough.
We’re officially going back to 200 IgG colostrum and keeping the other stuff as a supplement not a replacement.
The girls are doing great now, stay tuned for their release into a little bigger pen 🥰
