The goats got lost in their extra big pasture 🤣🤣 this is the biggest bunch of trees they'll clear for us this summer and it NEVER FAILS they get stuck on one side and forget how to get back through!

My sweetest and stinkiest man, Edgar, decided I get to live with the chickens yesterday 🤣😅

He had himself a nice little sit down in front of the chicken door AFTER I WENT INSIDE. Imagine my surprise when I tried to open the door and was met with significant resistance 🙃 I had to strong arm my way back out! Don't worry though, HE WASN'T BOTHERED. Edgar didn't even stand up as I wiggled my way back through the door 🤣 Thanks Ed, I love you too ❤️

Sheep shearing day!

Yesterday we had 172 lambs sheared that were between 80 and 105 lbs. These lambs will be sold in November.

Unless you are raising wool sheep, the wool is nearly worthless. So we have to consider the cost of shearing into our projected profit for each group. We need a certain amount of time to recoup the cost and make shearing worth it. Which is why we made the decision to not shear the lambs that will be sold in September or October. Anything smaller than 80 pounds will be sheared next time we have the shearers out, they are just to small and would have grown wool back before they left! We are also seeing how lambs sell sheared (which is commonly referred to as clipped through the sale) versus wool on. This will drive our future management practices and decisions. We're excited to see how the first big group of lambs sell in September!

This is the last call to make one of our baby goats your own! I have a really nice selection this year and I'm so proud of how they've done!

I do have a small selection of keeper does but all the other doelings are available (including several moon spots/dapples 👀). Their moms are fantastic moms who just had their 3rd kidding season and these ladies could easily be bred this fall for March kids! The doelings available are all half Boer. 3💰💰 each.

Our boys are looking sooooooooo good this year!

Qjeff is our new Savanna buck from Tnt Savannas! He will be with our up and coming does and our handful of Kiko does.
Edgar is our Spanish buck all the way from Brush Creek Farm Spanish Goats and he will have the majority of the doe herd this year! Edgar's daughters will be evaluated and possibly kept as future breeding stock. The handful of his daughters we ended up with from the 2026 kidding are looking SO sharp and we can't wait to see how they do. Qjeff's daughters will also have a shot at staying in the breeding herd, but not this next season. 2028 will be the first year we will consider any of Qjeff's daughters for keepers.

Yesterday we picked up a Marweld sheep scale from Gateway Manufacturing in Clare.
