A concentration of smoke over a period of several weeks could contribute to lower temperatures and fewer growing degree units for row crops because of reduced solar radiation.

As of last night, no more corn to run through the head 🌽🌽🌽

Each crop year has its own unique set of challenges, but as always, we are thankful to have the crop safely tucked away in the bins.

Special thanks to Zach Schrock, Barden Vance, Creighton Prawat, Richard Hunsberger, Jeremy Hochstedler, Herman Stutzman, Dave Dann, Dena Shafer, Owens Family Trucking, and all of their families who supported them and us through this harvest season.

We are thankful for the many crop vendors and suppliers as well as our customers who are too numerous to list.

Thanks be to the Lord for His faithfulness and for giving us the opportunity to get up each day and do what we love - care for the land.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

Just a couple of 60 + year friends and 2 old Gals still getting it done. Barden Vance has been one of my best friends since we met in First grade.
The 4020 belonged to my Dads best friend. I used to ride a different bus after school as an elementary child and plow with this tractor before our home farm was ready each spring. It has original paint except for the wheels.

I was asked today when we will start harvesting as I attended the Indiana Corn Huskers competition.

We are ready and most likely will start Monday. Corn is a little slow developing this season and we typically plant a bit later than most growers.

And that’s a wrap!

Despite a late start due to the weather, this was one of the smoothest and quickest planting seasons we’ve had.

Thankful for Zach Schrock, Garrett Brouyette, Richard Hunsberger, Creighton, Barden and their better halves.

Also meant to mention Jeremy Hochstedler who helped us part time and did a great job!

Now the real work of caring for this crop begins 😎🌽

We kind of wondered there for awhile… but God promises us in Genesis:

“As long as the earth exists,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and hot,
summer and autumn,
day and night
will not cease.”
Genesis 8:22

Let’s roll!

A shout out to Nathan Price who worked late into the night to get our 2019 CR9.90 combine back up and running after an afternoon “let down”. Kat and Burnips Equipment of Wyatt have done a marvelous job of implementing CNH’s Power Service plan in a time of equipment, labor and parts shortages. People like this and programs like PSP are extremely important in time like this and especially when you attempt to harvest all your acres with one machine.
Thanks again to everyone involved
