And that’s a wrap!

Despite a late start due to the weather, this was one of the smoothest and quickest planting seasons we’ve had.

Thankful for Zach Schrock, Garrett Brouyette, Richard Hunsberger, Creighton, Barden and their better halves.

Also meant to mention Jeremy Hochstedler who helped us part time and did a great job!

Now the real work of caring for this crop begins 😎🌽

We kind of wondered there for awhile… but God promises us in Genesis:

“As long as the earth exists,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and hot,
summer and autumn,
day and night
will not cease.”
Genesis 8:22

Let’s roll!

A shout out to Nathan Price who worked late into the night to get our 2019 CR9.90 combine back up and running after an afternoon “let down”. Kat and Burnips Equipment of Wyatt have done a marvelous job of implementing CNH’s Power Service plan in a time of equipment, labor and parts shortages. People like this and programs like PSP are extremely important in time like this and especially when you attempt to harvest all your acres with one machine.
Thanks again to everyone involved

Deep banding

We have not planted any corn yet. We prefer to not stress our crops. It’s just what we do. Here we are deep banding some “secret corn food “ for the crops needs a little later in season.

$5.00 and higher local corn really wakes up the Ag sector ! How soon we forget.

My phone has been ringing with a lot of questions about "that field of corn you had over there". I love to help growers and share what I have learned. Recently I have told some farmers and suppliers that I cannot talk about that or I will tell you what I can.

The reason is that we belong to, are very active in and openly support DCI Next Level . This is a group headed up by Randy Dowdy and David Hula. In that group we test and prove many practices and products for the benefit of our members. I have a strong respect for the information we create and share within our group. I highly encourage growers of all sizes to join. We are non biased in our data findings. These are the fields and Farms that I cannot share openly. My fellow members have inside access to those through YMS software.

The other side of our operation is the Conklin Agrovantage. On our farm we use many of those products and do have trials and plots that are not in DCI that we can freely share. We as the Schrock Farms Family strive to do the best we can at farming and do not focus on product sales. If you have interest feel free to call us and we will direct you to a service representative that we support and has access to our Conklin plots and data.

Thank you

The last of the crop was tucked away in the bins today. Harvest 2020 is complete.

A special thanks to each of our employees and everyone who helped with trucking.

Harvest always has its challenges, but we have to say this was one of the smoothest we’ve had.
We’re especially thankful in the midst of this crazy year.

Here’s to planning crop year 2021. We’re looking at you 😎

Thank you to everyone who came out for Blessing of the Harvest 2020.
We started off our time together with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by an encouraging word from local pastor Jason O'Neal, and ended the morning
with prayer and fellowship.
We are thanking God in advance for a safe and prosperous 2020 harvest. 🌽🌽🌽

Guess we outdid ourselves with our garden. Maybe we should have been tomato farmers 😂

We suppose we’ve neglected this page a bit over the past several months.
Here are some pictures from the growing season. Harvest should start around the middle of this month. Please remember to respond to our Blessing of the Harvest invitation.

Thanks, everyone!

We regret to inform our followers that we will not be hosting our annual open house this year. This event takes months of planning as well as commitments from many individuals. Due to the unknowns of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we were unable to have plans established in a timely manner. This paired with the current CDC guidelines for gatherings has led us to the difficult decision to not host an event this year. Thank you all for understanding and we plan to see you in 2021.

Stay tuned for some pictures and videos of our 2020 growing season!

We received some sad news today. One of our employees, Dan Weirich (known to us as "Driver") lost his wife this morning. Driver has worked for Schrock Excavating/Schrock Farms for almost 25 years and has been a dedicated employee. Please keep Dan and his family in your prayers.

I haven’t posted on this site for a while and we are going to start doing a series of posts that you will find interesting. I was asked by one of my non-farm friends if the current situation with the COVID-19 virus has any effect on farming.

Yes it does actually. The arrangement for us to pick up parts, take deliveries, and meeting with important advisers is definitely different. It seems like everything takes longer and more coordination. Local ethanol plants and those around the country are closing which puts pressure on our markets.
One bright light at the end of the tunnel for us is the cost of fuel, a high percentage of our input cost is diesel fuel. Obviously if you’re putting gas in your car do you know the cost of fuel is lower than it has been for many many years.

We expect to have everything we need to place our crops in the soil and get them started. About 90% of our supplies and fertilizer are in our possession. So far everyone here has stayed healthy and we do practice distancing when we are in the shop and office.

This is what Schrock Farms has been up to!

This post is not to brag, but rather to encourage and inspire others to help the community during this time. Often the smallest gestures have the largest impact.

Schrock Farms wanted to bless the hardworking medical staff as well as support a local restaurant. We were able to coordinate with Beacon Health and provide a meal for staff members from our local pizza place, Wooden Peel.

Shoutout to Beacon Medical Group President Dr. Vincent Henderson, Vice President Cindy Hayes, Saylor from Wooden Peel, and Vickie Alber and Michael Mason for helping us coordinate all of this.

Our next adventure is to provide meals at Bremen Hospital. We hope this post inspires you to lend a helping hand as well!

We spend a lot of time on our farm doing research on products and practices. I just entered some June planted corn trial data and in-spite of a late ,cold and yes dry growing season we have kernel counts of 68,000 to 72,000 per bushel. For those of you who do not know .... it usually takes 90,000 seeds or kernels to make a bushel.
If you want to increase your production or want more information Please reach out.
There are some things I can even help you with in your gardens and truck farming that are safe and very beneficial.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2nd Annual Blessing of the Harvest. We enjoyed cinnamon rolls, coffee, and fellowship with our fellow farmers and those connected to the ag industry. A special thanks to Manny Gonzalez for sharing a meditation on Galatians 6:9 “And don’t allow yourselves to be weary or disheartened in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!”
