I share a lot of the pretty flowers, so it only seems fair to share the other side too.
This season has been humbling.
I planted around 70 anemones and currently have about 5.
I planted 236 lilies and so far 1 has emerged. Statistically speaking, that's a .42% success rate…
I thought 150 daffodils would be substantial. That's adorable.
And then there's my garden layout. It was designed back when this was a hobby and not a business. Present me would like to have a conversation past me on this one.
Now I'm trying to decide whether I should redesign everything before I expand or simply accept that perfection is not a prerequisite for growing flowers.
It's easy to compare yourself to growers who seem to have every detail dialed in. But most of us are just making our best guess, taking notes, and trying again next year.
My entire early season has basically become one long planning session for next season.
What's something that humbled you this year?

95% sprout rate and my flower-farming heart is so full. πŸ₯ΉπŸŒ±
I tucked 331 tubers into the ground back on April 20th, and 315 are officially pushing through. Honestly, this is a huge improvement over last year when I suffered such a substantial loss, so seeing this sea of green is the ultimate relief! 🀎
Side note: Caitlin’s Joy and Clearview Peachy are the slowest to emerge so far. πŸ™„πŸŒΈ
How are everyone else’s dahlias doing this season? Anyone else noticing specific varieties taking their sweet time waking up? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Surviving or thriving?? Some days are better than others but I’m still here doing the damn thing πŸ™ƒ

A rainy day brought plenty of kitty cuddles, a happy garden, and 200 more sunflower seeds sown πŸ˜‰πŸŒ»
I've always loved the rain, but gardening has given me a whole new appreciation for it. There's nothing quite like seeing everything perk up and turn vibrant after a fresh shower. Unless it's within two weeks of planting dahlias... then the forecast gets a little more personal πŸ‘€

Behind the scenes of a flower farm, the personal veggie garden usually gets neglected. πŸ™ƒ Potting up these late tomatoes and reminding myself that "the best version of myself" includes giving myself grace when things don't happen on a perfect schedule.
Unlearning perfectionism is a daily battle for me
