Hey y'all! Gosh, it's been about a year since I have shared what's up over here on the farm, you may have thought we quit! But, nope! Just too many eggs to pack, not enough time to post! 😅
A quick overview (more details are in the photos).. we now have between 3,000-4,000 hens on the farm plus just shy of 200 free ranging ducks for eggs. Our eggs are now going to new customers in new areas and the demand is high!
We have some new housing for the hens, big hoop house type structures run entirely on solar power which we drag around the pasture to allow our hens to utilize more of our land and improve our soil. We keep tweaking the design to make daily chores easier and the hens happier, but it's going really well and we are hoping to retire our stationary house that we just let the hens out of soon and move to just this style. It so much better for the land and good stewardship is our goal!
We also have a little herd of cows helping to manage the grass now and a new added to our pack to help out too! Flip through the photos to see him!
We are gearing up for fall project season and can't wait to share with you what's next! Hint.. the theme is, diversify! 🥳
