In 1969, the Darsinos Family established roots in Tennessee when our parents immigrated from Greece. Currently Nashville is our home but we are still very proud of Greece and hold tightly to our roots. Over the years growing up we would spend our summers in Greece and these trips have influenced us in profound ways. We would visit the family village of our parents that is nestled in the hills and
running alongside ancient ruins. While there you would get a sense that you were transported to another era; a time where ancient wisdom was woven into everyday life. This wisdom was not important to us as young children. However, now we look back and realize how special those family traditions are to us. Some of our most vivid memories are of the wonderfully simple meals made in the village by our grandmother, Yia-Yia. In those moments around a simple farm table, our Yia-Yia taught us many things. One thing I will always remember is there is no substitute for fresh ingredients prepared with love and of course our family olive oil. These are lessons that are hard to forget. Growing up with family roots in these two parts of the world has truly been a blessing. This is the driving idea behind darsinosfamily.com.
