Hello! My name is Evangeline White, I am a massage therapist and I mainly practice craniosacral therapy downtown Bangor across from Bagel Central.
I grew up for part of my childhood in Weeki Wachee Florida where my father’s side of the family is from. I grew up swimming in fresh water springs with manatees in my Meemaw and Peepaw’s backyard, fishing, catching frogs. eating frogs legs and gator, drinking sweet tea and peepaw’s homemade pickles, but my FAVORITE BY FAR was always getting boiled peanuts out of the back of old Chick’s truck as often as I could.
It’s a tradition for me to make boiled peanuts for family and friends on special occasions . I love to cook but it is everyone’s special request. I’m asked to make it so frequently as it is so difficult to find in this Deep South of the far north I figured it was time to finally make it available for my whole community!!!
I will be offering classic salty nutz, medium hot citrus Cajun and SLAP IN THE NUTZ fire nutz (hotter than a damn UTI)
My first batch are boiling in my kitchen as we speak. As I get together packaging in the next 24 hours I will update you all with pricing and pick up/delivery as well as preorder options. (Yes they take at least a day to cook!)
I’m excited to sell small medium and large bags but I am also psyched about the idea of selling out of local vendors and marking large orders to cater to your special events!
I’m also excited to share the rich history of boiled peanuts and what it means to our culture. Peanuts are native to south and Central America and are an indigenous food. The boiling of peanuts originates in the south by enslaved black people who would grow peanuts in their own private gardens. I want to acknowledge this history further in a post which I put way more thought and reverence into! I am white passing and was raised by a white family but I have both Seminole and Black ancestors that deserve respect and acknowledgement for this beautiful and nourishing dish that was handed down to me and my communities.
