Ryder Farm Cottage We are enhancing our back pastures with the breeding of Red Angus/Charlet Beef Cattle. We supply a m "Did you ever come upon an old farmhouse?

Looking as if it might have a history? Peaceful and secure as if it had grown into and become a part of Mother Earth? Such a one has seen a heap of living, loving, and dying. To it came a new family to take possession in 1795 - a man and his wife and their three children. They would build and cultivate and beautify and labor cheerfully for it would be their own, their very own home."

Ryder Farm is located in Brewster, NY, and has been in the Ryder family since 1795. The Farm spans 126 acres -- landscape that includes farmland, ponds, natural amphitheaters, trails and numerous historical structures. The farm was a pioneer in America's green movement by being one of the first farms to go organic in the 1970s. Today Ryder Farm sells a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers at the Union Square and Brewster green markets, boasts a CSA, and employs seasonal farm interns. Two of the family’s direct descendants, John and Betsey Ryder, continue the family’s farming tradition to this day. Learn more about Ryder Farm Industries at: [email protected]

It's funny how a farmer spends countless hours getting the land ready, from plowing to planting. He spends $1000's of dollars on fuel, equipment, and repair bills. He spends many hours praying for rain or sunshine instead of sleeping. He sweats like no other job will make you. He works like most people wouldn't.
He gets yelled at and cussed out by people who get caught behind the tractor traveling down the road, and he spends many times of the day wondering if it's worth it! The deer, coyotes, hogs, c***s, gophers, grasshoppers are just a few pests to contend with!! He does all of this for what??? Ask yourself, "Why would he do that?"
The answers are all around you. The plate of food sitting in front of you, the clothes on your back, the shoes on your feet, and the last answer is the one that puzzles most people. It's the dust, love for agriculture, and the satisfaction of knowing he has done his part at the end of the day! I'd like to thank all the farmers out there who help make the world go round!
God bless our farmers!
