Before there was a name for it, there was a block party in the South Bronx. 🇵🇷🎤

The story of hip-hop's birth is also a Puerto Rican story. When DJ Kool Herc threw that first party on Sedgwick Avenue in 1973, the South Bronx was already a community shaped by Boricua hands: the block captains, the dancers, the poets, the muralists, the people who turned abandonment into art. Puerto Ricans didn't just witness the birth of hip-hop. We were in the room. We were on the floor. We were on the walls.

This is what Nuyorican culture has always done: taken what the world threw away and built something the world couldn't stop listening to. Drop a 🇵🇷 if you know this history belongs to us too. Tag a Boricua who needs to see this.
