It’s very rare to find an Italian spot that checks all the boxes. We’re not easy to impress and if you know me, you know I have a lot to say about food. The other day we were driving around looking for a new spot to try. Go in with no expectations, no idea of reviews, just a good old fashion spontaneous date night. So we see Basilico Restaurant right past quarry walk in Oxford and said let’s try it.
The staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere was warm and cozy with a touch of elegance. Immediately looking at the menu, we spotted like 10 things we would 100% order. So it was a tough decision.
I cannot stress this enough order the Arancini and thank me later. A light sauce with truffle mushroom rice balls. Like the truffle wasn’t overpowering, it was creamy, crispy and we almost ordered a second round. Drinks were great and we loved both of our chicken dishes but if I had to choose one, it’d probably be the Picatta because I’m a sucker for capers! Desserts a no brainer. And they have a decent size dessert menu.
If there was one spot for me to recommend trying this year, it’s this one right here!
