May is officially moo month! 1 year ago we brought home Lotus, today she is joined by Biscuit! Biscuit is a 6 month old dexter heifer. She's half American dexter and half white dexter. Polled, non-chondro and so adorable! She's almost as big as Chester, who's 1 year this month. We officially have a herd❤️

Surprise! Nothing is ever boring around here. Yesterday I'm minding my business, finishing putting fresh straw and getting ready to deliver fresh round bales to everyone. Kory goes mortal combat on one of the pups (15 months old) and a pig starts squealing bloody murder. As I'm making my way across the doe pasture to investigate, two piglets come running with Kory trailing behind looking like a vengeful mobster. It all suddenly makes sense. The pup got too inquisitive and good old papa bear Kory let him know! Pup is fine, piglets are fine, mama pig (Spamela Anderson) is fine. Ember got a hands on lesson in piggie umbilical cords and disinfecting and helped me move them and Spamela into a freshly bedded stall. Even with all that we still made it to my oldest 's basketball game (they won! ). Sadly I did not finish getting hay out and still have 2 shelters to add straw to. Thankfully I started early (something always happens, lol) and will have time to finish today before the extra cold temps move in. No evening is complete without friends coming over to add a helping hand. Thank you Bailey Owens and Ryan Owens for coming to help finish the pipe insulation and to cuddle new piglets. Bailey has this naming thing down! Please welcome Boaritto and Pignelope to this crazy farm.

Going home for Christmas!!

Meet Monster! He's 6-7 months old and a dedicated worker already. He's was born and raised with pigs and goats. He works in the yard also with ducks, turkeys and chickens. Horses, cows, cats and kids. He's a well rounded, highly exposed livestock protector. He's young, so expect to continue training until he matures. His mother is a full time working Maremma and his father is a full time working kangal/akbash/anatolian. He's got the genetics, natural ability, and mind set to be a fabulous protection machine. He currently lives in Bridgeport, TX.

A year ago we put up our big shed in November- December. Now, we're almost done with the new pump house/ garden shed. Who knew this time of the year was shed building time? We are ready for siding and I can't wait!
