M. Dansak, Needlewoman & Open-Hearth Cook I began studying 18th century clothing in 1998, shortly after I began working at an historic site.

Pictures and posts of 18th century reproduction clothing that I'm sewing, open-hearth cooking demonstrations, and information about what life was like in the 18th century. Since then, I have continued my research and I began sewing historically accurate reproduction clothing for re-enactors/living historians, specializing in the Revolutionary War period. I've sewn reproduction clothing for the fo

llowing: The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Site in Somerville, NJ, The Friends of the Abraham Staats House, members of Outwater's Militia, and 18th century musician Linda Russell. I can provide assistance for individual character development which might include suggestions for appropriate garments and textiles, accessories, documentation, etc. I began learning about the 18th century womans "sphere of domesticity" shortly afterwards, and that lead to learning about open-hearth cooking and historic foodways. I enjoy open-hearth cooking and practice whenever I get the chance! I also provide open-hearth cooking lessons and demonstrations for interested individuals or groups.
