This September, we’re doing things a little different in lieu of our Rescue of the Month.
Losing Howard in July has been devastating, and we’ve been trying to honor him everyday, wherever we go, in whatever we’re doing because he meant so much to us.
A few years ago, Howie was diagnosed with a rare cancer. He underwent surgery and was monitored closely over a couple of years by the amazing staff at Animal Cancer and Imaging Center (ACIC) in Canton, Michigan. During his visits there, we learned about a foundation organized by a former patient’s family- The Popeye Animal Cancer Foundation, a 501c to help families dealing with financial difficulties pay for cancer treatments of their beloved pets. No one should have to struggle with this burden, next to knowing your best friend has cancer.
ACIC, along with his other vets, gave us more time with Howard - we all know how precious time is. We want to tell everyone about this incredible foundation and hopefully raise money to help other families have more time with their fur babies too. We thank every single veterinary staff member at ACIC, VCA Hamburg, and all the vet personnel we hold dear in our hearts for the amazing care Howie received throughout his final years. We miss him beyond words. 🧡
